Which way up do I plant my peony bare roots?Updated 20 days ago
Your Peony bare root plant will be supplied as a thick piece of root which should be planted no deeper than 5cm below the soil surface. Peony bare roots should be planted horizontally, or angled slightly so that the buds are level with the soil surface. Itoh Peonies usually produce buds on the woody cut stems. If your ITOH peony has a wooden stem with buds on it, this part should be left slightly above the soil surface with the rest of the root below soil. should be planted so that the majority of any visible buds or ‘eyes’ are facing upwards. Avoid planting peony roots deep as this can delay flowering, or vertically because this can cause failure.
