When should I buy bare root plants?Updated 20 days ago
Bare root perennials are supplied between February and May for spring planting, you can preorder bare roots from December. Preordering ahead of the shipping season means that you will receive your order early in spring, the benefit of this is that the plants can begin to come out of dormancy and grow at their natural time and they have more time to develop in their first year. Bare root plants ordered later in spring will grow just as well, although as they miss their chance to develop during the spring season they may not produce so much growth in the first year.
