When should dahlias be lifted and stored?Updated 19 days ago

To protect your dahlia tubers from freezing winter conditions, it is best to lift and store your dahlia tubers in autumn. Often dahlias are flowering most prolifically in early-mid autumn, so you can wait until the first frost to lift your dahlias. If there hasn't been a frost by early-mid November, you should lift your dahlias at that point even if they are still flowering, this gives the tubers time to dry out properly before they go into cool storage. If dahlias are not lifted until late November/December, there is a higher chance that they will still be damp when stored and this can cause them to rot or become mouldy in storage.
