What is a bare root perennial?Updated 20 days ago
Bare root perennials is the dormant root system of a perennial plant. The growing point at the top of the root system is often referred to as the crown of the plant. This is where the buds are and where the new growth will develop from. Often, bare root perennials have developed shoots or leaves prior to delivery and these should be left exposed above the soil surface after potting. Bare roots delivered earlier in the season may not yet have shoots, but should have a firm crown and often have some visible buds.
