What do you do with bare root perennials when they arrive?Updated 15 days ago
Unpack your bare root perennials within 1-2 days of delivery. If you can't plant them immediately, remove from the packaging and place the bare roots in a dish of water in a cool, bright place and plant within a week. All bare roots will welcome a soak before planting, to replace moisture lost in storage. Pot-up bare root perennials into individual 15-20cm pots and grow on outdoors in a sheltered, bright position for a few months so they can establish a good root ball before being planted out into their final positions later in the season. This will ensure they’re a stronger, more robust plant when they’re planted out, more resilient to avoiding pest damage or weather damage, and less likely to be smothered by surrounding established plants.
