Should dahlia tubers have buds/eyes when they arrive?Updated 19 days ago
When supplied in early spring, dahlia tubers may still be completely dormant and may not have any visible buds/eyes yet. Buds/eyes typically start to appear by around April. Dahlias supplied during April and early May are more likely to have visible buds/eyes on arrival, however it isn't always the case. This is because they are stored in cool conditions during spring to keep them as fresh as possible. When supplied and potted in April/May, buds/eyes will usually form by around mid May and they will soon start to catch up with earlier-planted dahlias.
