How do you take care of Caladiums in the UK?Updated 16 days ago

Caladiums can grow well in the UK but they do not like cold conditions, therefore it is necessary to ensure they are grown in temperatures which are fairly consistently around 18-20C or above. You should start your Caladium bulb in a pot in spring and keep it indoors in a warm, bright room until it sprouts. It can be kept indoors as a houseplant all season or moved outside for summer. The bulbs may take 1-3 months to sprout and will require minimal watering while the bulb is dormant. You should allow the compost to become dry before watering again. You can water regularly once the bulb is in growth. In autumn, ensure your Caladium is moved back indoors before the frosts or any prolonged cold, wet conditions. Allow your Caladium to rest over winter in a cool room, the foliage will die back and it will require only very small amounts of water occasionally while it’s dormant.
