How do you plant bare roots?Updated 20 days ago

Pot up bare root perennials within a few days of receiving them. You should use an individual 15-20cm temporary pot for each bare root and multipurpose compost. Plant with the root system completely submerged and any shoots or leaves at the top of the roots system exposed above the surface. Water thoroughly after potting and grow-on in a sheltered, sunny position outdoors. After a few months, or once top growth is established and the plant easily comes out of the pot with the soil held together by the roots, the plant can be transferred into a well-cultivated border with suitable growing conditions. Water regularly during the first growing season, watering will be required less frequently once the plant has settled in and it thriving.
