How do I deadhead dahlias?Updated 16 days ago

You should deadhead dahlias regularly because this will encourage more blooms to be produced over a longer period. To do so, simply snip off faded flowers at the base of each individual flower stem where it intersects with a leaf or the main stem. Faded dahlia flower heads can be more difficult to identify once they have lost their petals as they look very similar to developing buds. However they do have a different shape to developing buds. New buds are rounded and firm, whereas faded flowerheads are pointed in shape and feel soft when pressed.
