How deep do I plant dahlia tubers?Updated 14 days ago

How deep should dahlias be planted?

Plant dahlia tubers shallowly in the soil with the stump of last year’s stem level or slightly exposed from the soil surface. Ensure the tubers are completely submerged below the soil surface to prevent them from drying out. Avoid planting too deep and this can cause dahlias to fail to sprout, or cause dahlias to emerge very slowly. The top of the tuber cluster (also known as the 'crown') where buds emerge should be no deeper than 2cm below the soil surface.
