Do Peonies multiply?Updated 20 days ago
Peonies are clump-forming perennials, which means the root system grows to form a clump. As the clump grows, the spread of the plant will increase and it will produce more stems. When the clump grows very large (over 30cm in diameter), you can divide it in autumn or early spring. This involved lifting the clump and splitting it into 2-4 pieces which you can plant either in separate locations, or with space between each piece in the original location so that the clump looks larger afterwards. Dividing the root system is the best way to multiply your Peony.
