Do dahlias flower in the first year?Updated 19 days ago
Dahlias flower reliably in their first year providing the growing conditions are right for them and they are planted at the correct time. Dahlias planted in early spring usually start flowering by around mid-late July. Dahlias which are potted in late spring (April-May) soon catch up and typically start flowering sometime in August. During particularly hot, dry summers, dahlias may delay flowering until conditions become cooler in September.
