Are summer bulbs perennial?Updated 13 days ago

Most summer bulbs are perennial, but many like dahlias, begonias, cannas and callas are not hardy. This means that they will only grow back next year if the bulb or tuber not exposed to frost over winter. Some summer bulbs are hardy and will grow back each year without any winter protection, such as crocosmia, lilies and nerines.

Bare root perennials will grow back every year and most are fully hardy, which means they can be left undisturbed outdoors over winter. You can check the hardiness and whether a variety is perennial in the plant specs on each product page.
