How long does it take for bulbs and plants to sprout?Updated 8 months ago

Most spring bulbs remain dormant through winter and sprout from early spring onwards. Summer-flowering varieties planted in spring will usually produce some growth within a month or two, but it can take longer for some types. The length of tie it takes to see growth usually depends on temperatures.

Planting early in the season usually results in earlier sprouting. It is common for some spring flower bulbs, such as alliums, ranunculus and narcissus, to sprout in late autumn or during winter.

Bare root perennials should have some buds or small shoots on arrival and you should see some growth within a month or so of the roots being potted up.
