How long can you store bare root plants before planting?Updated 8 months ago

Bare root plants must be planted as soon as possible after delivery. They will need water and can lose their freshness and viability quite quickly when they're stored for too long. If your garden isn't ready for planting when your bare roots arrive, you should plant them into temporary pots straight away so that they can start to grow and take up water. Bare roots will get off to a better start when grown on in temporary pots to begin with anyway. They can be transferred into the garden after 1-3 months, once they have established enough growth to easily come out of the pot without the compost falling away from the roots.
