How do I store my bulbs until I’m ready to plant them?Updated 8 months ago

You should unpack your parcel as soon as it arrives and open up the packets. We advise that all bulbs and plants are planted as soon as possible while fresh. Storing them for weeks can result in the bulbs naturally deteriorating. If you are unable to plant them straight away, you can usually store them for a short while. Store the bulbs in open packets in a cool, airy place which is free from rodents. You can read more about bulbs and what to do when they arrive in our blog post Flower bulbs — a guide to bulb planting and care.

Bare root perennials don't stay fresh in storage for as long as bulbs. They should ideally be potted up within a week of delivery. When they first arrive, if you can plant them straight away, you should open up the packets to allow some air to the plants and keep them in a cool, bright location, but out of direct sunlight. If they look dry, you spray or drop a little water into the bags they are supplied in to keep them going until you can plant them.
