Do you water bulbs in pots over winter?Updated 8 months ago

Bulbs like to be in a growing medium which is kept moist, but well-drained. For spring bulbs growing in pots outdoors, natural rainfall is usually sufficient. If pots are under cover, or if there is very little rain through the winter and early spring, then they will need watering. If the soil feels dry below around 5cm from the soil surface, they could do with watering. Take care not to over-water however—the bottom of the pot should have adequate drainage holes and while the bulbs are still dormant, they can be allowed to dry out before watering again.
